Asteroid Sound Biography The name asteroid is a unusual name (asteroid means a ball of fire that comes down from the sky) Asteroid sound is a class of fire sound, vibes sound, flava sound and they always play for the ladies. Asteroid sound is originally from Jane & Finch in Toronto Canada. Asteroid sound was formed in 1996 with founder and selector (Jr. Banton) the other selectors was Kutta Leng & Tony Rebel. Asteroid was dominating a lot of party scenes in Canada such as Ottawa Montreal, Edmonton, Alberta etc. Jr. Banton use to travel to America on a regular basis to visit his dad and his brother. His brother was a part of a major sound system in New York. Then he moved to America in 2004 and settled in Miami Florida. He met Ricky Spice through his Brother Warren. Warren and Ricky were good friends. Ricky Spice use to plays sounds like (Ultra Tek, Black Essence and 95.9 in the early 2000. Jr. Banton, Ricky Spice and Warren came together and decided to launch Asteroid Sound in Miami Florida. Asteroid Sound started off slowly in the of 2004, but with their creative styles and different flavor of music by early 2005 Miami Florida recognized that Asteroid Sound is a force to reckon with. Asteroid Sound was taking Miami by storm. They was on everything you could think of, from Monday to Sunday. In that short space of time they were the most booked sound in 2005 and 2006. They also receive an award for the “Sound of the year for 2005”. By this time it was clear to see that Asteroid Sound was a major sound system, by playing in major cities like New York, New Jersey, Texas, Washington DC, Virginia, Atlanta just to name a few. Asteroid started to travel across the country to their birth place to Kingston Jamaica, Cayman Islands and a few European countries like England. Asteroid has also been matched up with some of the top sounds around the world like Stone Love, Renaissance, Fire links, Swatch Intl, Bass odyssey, Cash Money, Black Kat, Nite Traxxxx. Asteroid Sound is still one of the top sounds in Miami Florida. Asteroid Sound is not only a sound system, they also have branched off into producing and making riddims and being a radio personality. They are one of the power sounds you can hear on 95.9 W.B.I.G Station, the number one Caribbean Station in Miami Florida.
